Puglia, Sicily & the Greek islands

this is where the adventure begins

With over twenty years experience travelling around Southern Italy and Greece, BB Travel has a wealth of hands-on know-how of this special area of Europe. We are a completely bespoke travel agency because there is not one itinerary that fits all. We are that trusted friend that can give you the advice you need: with the latest insider tips for anyone wanting to explore the regions of Puglia, Sicily and the Greek islands. Based in Sydney our understanding of the Australian traveller is the cornerstone of our business.

We believe in sustainable and responsible tourism that gives back to the local communities we visit and love. That is why we never deal with a middleman or with chains. All our hotels and villas are family-owned, our food and wine experiences are booked direct with the producers, and our excursions are organised through small independent local operators.

All of our suppliers have been handpicked so we can guarantee the same customer care throughout our portfolio.

We also donate to a number of local charities and carbon offset all our tours so that we can minimise our footprint on this beautiful planet.

SAMPLE ITINERARY - How to spend a week (or 2 or 3)in Puglia

day 1

Polignano a Mare

A short drive from the airport, Polignano a Mare and its famous cove are the ideal stop for the first leg of any trip to Puglia. Take in the town from your hotel's rooftop terrace overlooking the piazza, or indulge in a decadent dinner at an enchanted restaurant tucked away in a natural cave under the town. Or just wander around soaking it all in; you may even see some of the famous cliff divers!

day 4

Trulli in Alberobello

Alberobello is arguably the most famous town in Puglia with its unique dry-stone, conical roofed Trulli houses. Meet residents that have been living in these quaint homes for generations and learn from the locals about life here. Or why not stay in your own Trullo, converted into a luxury holiday home with pool? The unique characteristics and historical significance of the Trulli, have made Alberobello a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth a visit.

day 2

Coastal road trip

Surrounded by three seas, there is no better coastal road trip than the one on offer in Puglia. Blessed with azure water around every corner, this leg of your itinerary should take in some of the beautiful coastline dotted with towns like Monopoli,  Otranto and Gallipoli. If an exclusive beach club is more your style, there are plenty to choose from with 5 star service; you can just lie back and relax and let us take care of the rest.

day 5

The White Towns

Locorotondo and Martina Franca are two of the many white and gold towns that sparkle and characterise Puglia: with winding alleyways and hidden piazzas, marketplaces and "slow food" trattorias that entice you away from the coastline. Stay in an ancient Castello or boutique hotel and soak up the history, art and culture that abounds.

day 3

Local producers

Enjoy the abundance of artisan producers, and sample not only Italy's best olive oil from some of the oldest trees in the Mediterranean, but also visit the much loved home of Burrata and stracciatella cheese. Head inland for a stay at a Masseria, a traditional 16th century farm converted into the ultimate in luxury accommodation. Private tastings and  lessons on how to craft the fresh silky cheeses will ensure your rural bliss.

day 6

In the province of Basilicata, just a stone's throw from Puglia, Matera is a UNESCO world heritage site perched on rocky clifftops, with breathtaking views that can be enjoyed from a restaurant whilst enjoying the cuisine, or from your one-of-a-kind hotel. A living museum as well as a centre for modern art, its ancient cave dwellings make it an absolute must on everyone's bucket list.

“My holiday to Naxos was made extra special by adding on the three day tour of Paros, the ATV tour around the island was super fun and a great way to engage with the landscape, and the fabulous restaurant recommendations, meant that I could maximise my experience, and really make the most of the three days on this beautiful island"
